Our Vision

The changing narrative of an ever broadening global environment, reminds us of the necessary and apropos long-term transition of the Great Migration and as such, the Academy is pursuing an evolved strategic direction that is rooted in the belief that preparing all youth for an extended and excellent quality of life is possible within our lifetime.

We firmly believe that:

  • Children living in underprivileged and underserved communities will advance to and graduate from high school prepared for success in college and/or career.

  • For some children growing up with academic disparities or those living in exceptional environments, college is not the alternative for success however all children deserve an excellent foundation that meets their individual needs.

To maximize the Academy's contribution in this movement, we are pursuing progress in the following areas:

  • We are focused on partnering with reputable educational service organizations focuesd exclusively on closing the academic achievement gap, to support the youth in and out of the classroom to develop their leadership qualities.

  • We are focused on providing expert instruction and mentorship not just limited to after-school but also remaining non-restrictive and active in many different forums. We want these naturally occurring relationsships to be authentic and responsive to the personal growth of our youth.

  • We are focused on supporting culturally relevant and responsive teaching, and creating a community where the youth can bring their best, striving to be the model of excellence we desire within our community and nationally.

  • We are focused on powering local movements by engaging in constructive dialogue with the leaders within our local community.

  • We will lead by example with the confidence of our principles, grounded in the understanding that we and our partners each have critical roles to play in the lives of our youth.
